Ms. Monique brings you an old school R&B flavour with soulful
vocals. Soul Sessions Chapter 1, offers professional blends of Soul,
Funk, and Blues, showing the listener what mainstream R&B should be.
She was born and raised in Florida, recently moving to Atlanta. Her
southern roots reflect in the lyrical content of her songs. Songs such
as Do You Wanna Step With Me are strong with the southern fried
touch Ms Monique gives. Her talents lie mostly in song writing, as she
writes every track with Frank McKinney. Ms Moniques debut albums
first single was Love Therapy and this is where she showed her
talent at her best, it is catchy with an overall mid-tempo, slow jam
vibe to it. Her arrangements are less Hip-Hop orientated and follow
the traditional production styles of Blues (Ooh Baby) and 60s Dance
(Get Up) arrangements. The best tracks from Soul Sessions Chapter
1 are Lollipop and you did it to you are nice but if you listen
to Slow & Easy you can understand why Ms Monique is often compared
to Gladys Knight. She isnt lacking in anything, both artistically and
vocally. She only must improve on her gift by doing what she is doing
and spreading her message to the world: Keep the lovin alive!
